“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  John 3:16

Anybody whose been within a thousand mile radius of a church has heard this.  John 3:16 is the first verse learned as a child and it’s carried with us throughout our lives. THIS is what it’s all about. Jesus dying on the cross to save us.  However, it is also hard to imagine. I honestly believe only someone God sized could do something like that.

I read in the Bible the things done to Jesus but until I saw The Passion of the Christ I couldn’t imagine it as fully as what I saw in the movie.  The brutality of what was done to Jesus even before he got to the cross was almost unbearable to watch. I don’t know how people can dismiss it so easily.  Sometimes my mind gets away from me and I imagine what if something not even remotely as savage as what Christ went through happened to my family? I would immediately go straight pass grief and straight into mental breakdown.  And to think God did it willingly.  He sent HIS son. His ONLY BEGOTTEN son.  The one and only.

I’m sitting here right now with a sick puppy and it’s breaking my heart but she’s just a dog. I’m a total wreck because of a dog.  I can’t imagine how God felt when his son was being whipped and tortured and spat upon and mocked.  How did God keep control of Himself and not call down every angel in his army to lay waste to all the earth for what was being done to his son? All I can say is it had to be a God sized father with God sized control. This is why humans don’t have superpowers because if something like this happened to me I would probably come up with brand new ways to lose it. I hope you all are having a better night than I am but I know the Lord is with me whatever kind of night I’m having.
